Last Day of 2nd Cycle and more

Here's the numbers for today:

Cable rows ------------------- 170 for 3, 3, 3
Pull-ups ----------------------- 55 for 3, 3, 3
Squats ------------------------- 295 for 3, 3, 3
Calves ------------------------- 320 for 3, 3, 3
DB Bench -------------------- 110 for 4, 4, 3**
Dips ---------------------------- 85 for 3, 2, 3

This cycle went...ALRIGHT, tho it ended very well seeing as how I was able to handle these numbers and more in the db bench section.  I mentioned earlier in the cycle/blog that this cycle started very rocky seeing as how I got sick pretty bad and my sleeping has been really crappy.  I mean REALLY crappy.  It still persists and I think I lost some muscle from it...  Hoping to get some good rest during this SD (strategic deconditioning) period.

You may notice the workout is different than usual.  I decided to not do face-pulls or db military presses. I went with pretty much all standard movements (with the exception of calves of course).  I will most likely add in standing push presses and see how I want to structure my workouts...I'm still a bit in that dilemma about whether I should make my workouts upper/lower to avoid overtraining because of the heavier weights that I'm using.  We'll see what I decide on.  I just wanna focus on recuperating well and NOT getting sick.

**Today I was supposed to end with 105 lbs. dumbbells but it appeared that one of them was missing...probably cus it was broken from use.  So, I decided to up the weight instead of go back to 100's.  I was pleasantly surprised at my performance, though I will probably use that same number for the next cycle.

So onto other things...I am still planning on going to Japan, however, I must take care of a few other things including rescheduling my flight if possible.  I am supposed to leave this Wednesday (16th) at 11:50am however after talking to several of my friends, it seems like even places like Tokyo and Chiba are in a panic mode (naturally of course).  Everything at the convenience stores are being bought up for emergency purposes...my friend said that his mom and sister even bought bicycle helmets just in case >____<.  Not a bad idea to have a hard hat in case another large aftershock hits the lower region.  This whole thing is really sad for Japan, and timing really couldn't be better/worse.  Had I left earlier then I would have been in it.  But, now I have a bit of a situation of re-considering and whatnot.  This may sound weird, but I still want to be able to maintain my life (at LEAST my gym life, if not my music life). Not a safe idea to me to work out at a place that has aftershocks...

We'll see what I can do about the flight rescheduling...

I've been playing my tenor saxophone lately and all of a sudden that sound just made me want to bring my tenor instead.  So fickle.  I've definitely come to the conclusion that I want to play both, but as my earlier mentor has told me, just master one first because they will confuse me.  They are in different keys and do play and sound much differently.  But once I master one than I can master them all because the skills are transferable.  What to do??  Well, all I know is its easier to sound "cool" on tenor...haha.  Alto as my other mentor has told me "has to move" whereas the tenor can sit on notes.  For latin jazz though, nothing really beats tenor saxophone.  I would consider getting a good piece for my tenor but I bought so many I'm actually kinda overwhelmed.  Maybe a Jody Jazz HR* might be a good one for the tenor...  My current Otto Link Tone Edge 5* is not consistent on the tip curve and the rails seem a bit off center, kinda pointing leftward.  Well, I'd bring this one too JUST in case because its not worth as much as my SuperDynaction...

We'll see what happens...time to jam though.
